The Age Song
"Indications are James D Liessmann wrote these lyrics in June 1995"

(Sing to "Devil went down to Georgia")

Devil went down to the AGE Shop. He was lookin' for a sixty to steal. He was on the
Line, his runs behind. He was willing to make a deal.

Then he came across this young man. Loadin' on a sixty and loadin' it hot,
And the Devil jumped up on a B-4 stand and said, "Boy let me tell you what!"

"I guess you didn't know it but I'm an AGE Mechanic too, and if you care to take
A dare, I'll make a bet with you." "Now you load a pretty good sixty boy,
But give the Devil his due." "I bet a torque wrench of gold against your soul,
'Cause I think I'm better than you!"

The boy said, "I'm just an Airman and it might be a sin, but I'll take your bet,
Your gonna regret,
'Cause I'm the best there's ever been!"

(Refrain)

Airman get your safety gear on
And throw those switches hard! 'Cause Hell's broke loose at the AGE Shop
And the Devil uses Work Cards.
And if you win you get this shiny torque wrench made of gold,
But if you lose
The Devil gets your soul.

Well the Devil jumped in his Bobtail
And said, "I'll start this show,"
And fire flew from the tires
As he pulled it off the road.
And he pulled the cables across the ground And made and evil hiss.
And the band of Crew Chiefs joined in
And it sounded something like this.

(Instrumental)

When the Devil finished the Airman said, "Well that's pretty good ol' son,
But sit down on that Butt Can there
And let me show you how it's done!"

Chorus:

He played, Down the flight line run, boys, run! Devil's in the shop of the risin' sun
Sixty and Hobart sittin' by the door!
No time to wastes get your ass out on the floor!

Well the Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat, and laid the
Golden wrench on the ground at the Airman's feet.

The Airman said, "Devil just come back If you ever want to try again.
I done told you once you son of a bitch, I'm the best that's ever been!"
