Muscle Behind the Mission
"Cold War"
21 Nov 2002 - Tom Brueckner

Bravo Flight RAF Greenham Common - These are two pictures taken from a Newbury news paper printed for October 17, 1985.  The LCC was driven by Williams with Gamoke as his shotgun.  Gamoke had to beat the windshield out with the fire extinguisher to get the vehicle back to the base after the protesters were able to stop the convoy and paint it. The other picture is TEL Bravo driven by Jenkins and Brueckner as shotgun.  On this deployment there were protestors standing side by side for about a quarter of a mile flashing flashbulbs from cameras.  They did this to blind us as the threw stuff in the road ahead of us. In one case they wheeled a baby carriage out in front of us.  Apparently the news paper guy had film in his camera.
